When you started your business, did you start it because it was something that maybe you had had an experience with?
I can tell you from my business in marketing, obviously, I had experience with this in the corporate world, as a corporate scaler, but even more than that, I experienced growing and building my own brand online, and it pushed me into business for myself, helping others to do the same thing.
So if you’re in a similar situation, let me ask you something else:
Did you go into business thinking that you already knew what it was that people needed in order to achieve the goals that they want to achieve?
Did you come into business really believing that you already knew what it is that they needed?
And if the answer was yes, let me ask you something:
Did you ever stop and ask the people that you want to serve what they want, or what they need?
That magic question is your key to
I launched a product that I expected people to buy, and no one bought it.
I spent a lot of time and effort developing the content, thousands and thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours recording, doing all that, but it wasn’t what people wanted, because I made a critical error.
And I knew better. I knew that I needed to research my market, but I didn’t, because I thought I thought I knew them and what they wanted.
on’t ever make that mistake, thinking that you actually know exactly what your market wants.
Thinking that you know exactly what your market wants and building that before you ever even ask them is kind of like buying a gift for a teenager.
I’ll give you an example from my teenage daughter.
I could go to the store, and I could buy her something super, super special. I can just walk through the store, and I can spend hours and hours and hours picking it out for her, and pour all my love into it, and when I come and hand it to her, what’s likely to happen is she’s going to be like, “I don’t want this. Let’s take it back and get something that I actually want.”
Because I never even asked her, and she knows what she wants, just like your clients and your customers, they know what they want, and they’re more than willing to tell you.
All you have to do is ask.
