– Hey guys and welcome, welcome, welcome. So excited to be talking to you today about something that I think destroys most entrepreneurs, and that is analysis paralysis. So if you have never heard one of my videos or seen my face before. You’re like who the heck is this chick and why is she talking to you? Me, my name is Bridget Irby. It’s really nice to meet you. I’m excited that you’re here. I am on a mission to help more small business owners and more solopreneurs to make more money in their business. Back in March of 2017, my husband and I went through an experience that really changed our lives. He was working as a nurse practitioner, I was working as a corporate marketing consultant and one day our son who was 18 years old, he was a senior in high school, he was on his way home and a car turned in front of him on his motorcycle, and he had a really, really bad accident. So bad in fact that he was in I.C.U. for 37 days and he was in a coma for almost seven months. So in that period of time, our world changed entirely. We moved states, we just jumped through a lot of hoops, my husband and I did not work for 10 months. We were able to be at his bedside and support our younger kids to cope with everything that had happened. And when our son woke up from his coma, we were able to help him re-learn how to walk and re-learn how to talk and we were able just to be there through that whole process and really spend that time with our family when we needed to. But in that season of our lives, we saw a lot of parents that didn’t. I can actually remember sitting in the waiting room of one day our son was having a procedure done, and I was sitting in the waiting room because we never really left him alone for a very long, so that in the event he woke up, we would be there. But I remember sitting in the waiting room and there was a woman that was next door to us whose young son had been in and ATV accident and he was in a coma, and he had been in a coma for a long time and she was from a different state, they were from a different state, and she wasn’t able to move and stay like we did. And so she had to travel back and forth and back and forth and so she was leaving and I could see every time that she left, how it tore her apart and she wasn’t there when her son woke up. And he was very, very scared. I remember that moment and that experience and I knew right then that whenever I came back into work, instead of consulting with corporations only and helping these big corporations to make more hundreds of millions of dollars, that I really wanted to dedicate my life to helping small business owners and solopeneurs. Employ the actual tactics, the real strategies, the real, the real tools that will help them to actually grow. I think there’s a lot of noise and a lot of junk in this space that is not actually gonna help people. That’s why I’m here, that’s why you’re looking at me, and listening to me right now. That is my story. So now you know all about me and my background. I would love to know about you. Drop me a comment and tell me your story. Tell me about your business and what it is you’re looking to do. I would love to learn more about you and I will go through and respond to everyone so I’m excited to hear your story and I’m really excited to share with you this issue and how to overcome this issue that I think stops a lot of people and why it starts to begin with. Today we’re going to talk about what is commonly referred to as analysis paralysis and it’s when you have taken in so much information so you’ve consumed so many courses or so many trainings, you’ve read so many books, and you have all of these ideas but you don’t know where to start. You have so much information that you are paralyzed. That you cannot move forward with anything because you literally just don’t know where to start. You don’t know which way to go, how to move forward. And I’ve seen this happen a lot, especially in the online space. If someone is looking to build a business or a brand online I think this happens a lot, and I’ll tell you why. It’s a concept, that if you’ve never heard me talk about it before, called the entrepreneurial ferris wheel, and it’s when, as an entrepreneur, you’re so excited whenever you first get started with business, it’s like going to an amusement park, you’re like yes, yes, yes, this is gonna be amazing. And you go into the amusement park and then all the sudden you look around and you’re like, well, I don’t know which way to go. There’s a lot of different rides I can ride, and I’m not sure where I should go. And what happens then in this entrepreneurial amusement park is that a lot of times you have these gurus and these so called experts that really don’t have a clue what they’re doing, that will come up and say, hey, you want to, get 10,000 followers on Instagram, I can show you the way. Or you wanna do, learn how to, launch a webinar and make $1,000,000 in 15 minutes, I can show you the way. There’s so many people out there who are saying that. What happens is it’s like, they catch you at this moment where you’re like, I don’t know what to do. And then they’re like, Hey y’all, you need to do this in order to build a successful business, then you need to do X, Y, and Z. Then they’re like, it’s the equivalent of saying, hey, come here and get on my ride. So it’s what I call the entrepreneurial ferris wheel. You’re like looking around, and you don’t know what to do this guru comes up and is like hey, I can help you. Come get on my ferris wheel and from the ferris wheel, you’re gonna be able to go up to the top and you’re gonna be able to see all the different things that you know, you’ll be able to see this perspective, and you’re gonna know more about the park, and you’re gonna know which way to go. So that’s what happens. And you think that it’s gonna work. You get on this entrepreneurial ferris wheel and what happens is you go around. So let’s say you go around one time and you learn how to write Facebook ad copy, so you go around and you’re like, alright, cool, I learned how to write Facebook ad copy, I’m gonna get off the ferris wheel now and I’m gonna go ride with ride, this Facebook ad ride, and I’m gonna go see if this Facebook ad ride is fun. If it helps me to grow my business. When you try to get off the ferris wheel, what happens is that guru or that expert will sit you back down and they’re like, oh no, you can’t get off yet. Because something’s changed in the park. Not only do you need to know how to write this Facebook ad copy, you also need to know how to install pixels. So go sit back down in your ferris wheel cart and we’re gonna take you around one more time. So you buy another course, I need to understand more about pixels. So you go around one more time, and then you get off of the course, or you get finished learning that and then you try to get off and you try to go implement what you’ve learned. But this guru says again, no, sit back down, because there’s something else. There’s always something else. And that’s the problem with these gurus and these experts, is that they don’t give you what you actually need to grow. They keep giving you these little bitty dots, these little bitty pieces of what you need, instead of just simplifying the process, right? And the reason that I think most of them don’t simplify the process and get you in the action first, and get you to cash flow, is because they don’t know how. Because they don’t know how. All they know is how to teach these certain specific things, and they really don’t know how to help you. Because the reality is is that, the only way to succeed as an entrepreneur and the only way to succeed in business, is to get off that ferris wheel. You have to get off that ferris wheel, where you’re consuming course after course after course, you have to get into action, you have to get into action, and riding the other rides of the amusement park cause when you’re on the ferris wheel, all you can do, and this is how they sell you again and again, they sell you again, and again, and again, by telling you, like they send you up on the ferris wheel, and they show you what you could have. Well hey, if you went over here, and you ran webinars you could make this, or if you went over here and you did speaking engagements, you could do this, or if you did, anyway, the moral of the story is that there’s fundamental business principals that nobody is teaching. That no one is teaching. And if you don’t understand these fundamental business principals, none of the other stuff is going to work. All the other stuff is going to do is to put you into what we call analysis paralysis. And it’s where by the time you’re finally able to get off of that ferris wheel, right? By the time you are finally able to get off of that ferris wheel. You have consumed, I don’t even know how many courses, you’ve gone to I don’t even know how many different trainings, you’ve done a million masteries, you’ve done all of these different things, but you’re so overwhelmed by the time you step off and you finally break away from the gurus and the expert and the ferris wheel. Then you’re just standing there. You’re like, okay, well I know all these different things about these different rides, but I don’t know where to go. And that’s the analysis paralysis. That is when you have too much information. That is when you are overwhelmed with the information. And you don’t know where to start, okay? So I’m gonna tell you the biggest secret that I have learned and that I have implemented in my business and it’s the one thing that I can tell you has changed everything. And it’s this. If you’re stuck, if you feel like you are really just paralyzed, you don’t know which way to do, I’m gonna tell you a little secret. There’s no right or wrong answer. You can find a mentor, you can find someone to help you get into action. There are a lot of different things you can do, you have to be very careful with who you work with. But that’s a whole different conversation for another day. There is no, no right or wrong specific answer for you. Success in business is about trying things that you don’t know are gonna work or not, right? And the people that are really successful they’re gonna try something and if it fails, they’re gonna do it again, and they’re gonna do it again, and they’re gonna tweak it and they’re gonna do it again and they’re gonna tweak it and they’re gonna do it again and they’re gonna do it again and again and again and again and again until they find something that works. Right? So maybe webinars aren’t gonna work for you. Maybe Facebook ads aren’t gonna work for you. Maybe writing a blog isn’t gonna work for you, maybe doing videos isn’t gonna work for you. Maybe live speaking engagements isn’t gonna work for you, maybe whatever, everyone has their own different strengths and that’s the thing that a lot of people miss, a lot of people think that they’re going to be able to buy some like out of the box program or product and it’s gonna work to grow your business. That’s not the way that it works. You’ve got a lot of people out there that are teaching things, based on what worked for them. And the thing about that is that, just because it worked for someone else, doesn’t mean it’s gonna work for you. The thought process behind that the reason that is, is because your business is different, your market is different, your message is different, your pact is different, everything is different for you, than it may have been for this person who had success. So unless you’re really working with someone who understands marketing and creates a custom plan for you, you’re going to be frustrated, you’re going to not experience the same results, and you’re not going to understand why. And a lot of people fall into this trap of thinking it’s about them, but it’s really, really not. So the moral of the story, and what I wanted to tell you, is to get out of analysis paralysis, the only way to get out of analysis paralysis, is by taking action. It is by putting one foot in front of the other and taking action. And being okay, with failing your way forward and knowing that everything you do is not going to work. And that you’re going to have to tweak, and you’re going to mess up, and it’s okay. It’s okay to be perfectly imperfect. That we are all perfectly imperfect, and nothing is ever going to be, it’s never going to come out exactly how you think it’s going to come out. It’s just not. It’s not going to happen. The best thing that you can do, is to get into action now. I don’t care what that is to you, whatever that looks like, go run the Facebook ad, go do whatever. I don’t know what that looks like for you, but you pick one step and you take it. Everyday you pick one step and you take it and you keep doing that everyday and if it doesn’t work, you figure it out. You tweak it, you customize, you do something that’s going to work for you, and you continue to do it again and again and again. Because there’s no black and white, there’s no right or wrong answer. That’s just not how it works. It’s all about failing your way forward. And if you feel like you’re really really stuck, in this analysis paralysis and this, I call it the circle of doubt, it’s like the circle of doom, where you’re having these thoughts in your head, where you’re like no I can’t do that, or no I can’t do that, or that’s not gonna work or whatever, know that if you have time to think about those things, you’re not taking enough action. Because if you were taking enough action, if you were just in action, you would not have time to think you would not have time to think that is how fast you need to be moving. Okay, well I did a Facebook ad and it didn’t work, so I’m going to change the copy, you need to be moving that fast, you don’t give yourself time to think, you don’t give that negative noise in your head any time to grow. And that is how you get out of analysis paralysis. If that was helpful for you, sharing is caring, make sure that you tag someone in the comments that you feel like may benefit from this message. If you have any questions, make sure you drop ’em below, and I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Bye.
